VEGO SALAD BAR WEBSITE PROJECT
Vego Salad Bar is the first salad bar in Cambodia. Opened in Phnom Penh in 2010, Vego Salad Bar provides fresh vegetables from local farmers, homemade breads, as well as wraps and pastries that are made fresh daily. With an focus on community involvement, Vego Salad Bar helps their farming partners to produce by international organic standards. With this ethos, the restaurant is famous for its create-your-own-salads made with a large range of healthy and chemical free products.
With two locations and counting, Vego Salad Bar is a clean and cool cafe offering health conscious locals and expats outstanding organic food choices.
Acting as Art Director on their website design project, I wanted the UI to get out of the way. To achieve this, I placed the menu bar at the bottom of the screen and made the order form an easily accessible flyout menu that the user could open as needed. The order form and checkout menu were given craft paper backgrounds to keep with Vego Salad Bar’s all-natural philosophy.
Their mobile site takes the basic elements of the Vego Salad Bar desktop site and simplifies them. Using large buttons and flyout menus ensures users experience as streamlined as possible. These larger buttons and drop down menus make for pleasant ordering on touch screens. Navigation is done via a drop down menu and the order page takes over the entire screen.
GENERAL OVERVIEW
When I heard Vego Salad Bar wanted a site I wanted to give them something that exudes the clean and natural feeling of their restaurants. When loading the site, I wanted users to be greeted with full page images of beautiful organic food. User interface elements would use a calming and reassuring white paired with light and dark greens.
