As Cambrew prepared to debut Tuborg Beer in Cambodia, they signed with Branderz after an exhaustive search of all the design and communication agencies in Phnom Penh. I was Creative Director for their launch.

ABOUT TUBORG BEER
Tuborg is an international beer brand enjoyed in over 70 countries world wide. The brand is recognized globally for its exceptional quality and refreshing taste.
Their Tuborg Green imprint is a bottom-fermented lager brewed on a lager malt. Its flavor is mild and fresh, carrying floral and grain aromas. It’s medium richness closes with a moderately bitter aftertaste.
HOW TUBORG BEER'S VISUAL DESIGN WAS ADAPTED FOR THE CAMBODIAN MARKET
Tuborg beer was coming to Cambodia and it had to speak like a local. My team’s task was to inject their aesthetic and tagline with some local flair.
The beer brand’s global tagline for Tuborg is ‘Open For More’ or ‘Open For Fun’. Over a series of brainstorming sessions, we came up with dozens of ideas to make it more Cambodian . Then, we arranged them from more to less adventurous for focus testing. We got a ton of valuable information from those workshops. The results enabled us to pare down to 3 frontrunners. At the head of the pack was ‘Pop Pliem, Sabay Pliem”. This catchy phrase translates into ‘Pop Now for Instant happiness’
Along with translating the tagline to Khmer, we wanted to introduce an element we could own. We focused on the English word ‘Pop’ to do this. While the word exists in the consciousness of Cambodian people it’s ill-defined. With our new tagline, we wanted the word pop to be immediately a reference to Tuborg.
