Mobimedia had an exciting new competitor in the music streaming application arena with mJams. When looking for an localization partner they chose Branderz, where I was working as Senior Art Director. While the app had a brand look and feel, it had to be tuned to Cambodian tastes.

mJAMS PLENG VIP EVENT INVITATION
mJams is a revolutionary music streaming app taking over Cambodia. This music and video steaming platform serves up top licensed tracks from international artists and up-and-coming local Cambodian talent. In a market dominated by unlicensed and data-heavy music streaming options, mJams offers Cambodian consumers an affordable and legal music app solution. Unlike its competitors, this Android and iOS app offers curated playlists. These music mash-ups are curated by the country’s top DJs and radio personalities from Sony BMG and Warner Music’s catalog. And they’re specifically tuned to fit into users’ interests and lifestyles. Along with this streaming option, users can listen to tunes from the top charts, newly released albums and their own custom playlists. With a variety of options, mJams urges listeners to “Discover your world of music.”
The apps parent company, MobiMedia designed a sleek and snappy mobile app ready for worldwide distribution. While they were poised to release, they wanted to make sure it would strike the right chords with the local market. They chose Branderz as their local partner for PR, Communication, and visual localization services. Working as Art Director, I worked to integrate their existing visual guidelines to Cambodia’s dynamic and discerning youth market.
After months of preparation and hard work, we prepared to hold a star-studded launch event in the county’s capital, Phnom Penh. Along with an email blast to a select group of media movers-and-shakers, personalities and press I created a special printed VIP invite. To mimic the sleek sliding UI of the app, I went with a slide-out invitation format. The envelope of the work featured a modern low-poly pattern and mJam’s tagline on the front, and a space for hand-written guest names on the rear. The insert boldly displayed the app on its face and the location details in English and Khmer (Cambodian Language) on its backside.
In the end, both the invite and the event itself were a success. Pleasing the client and giving my team a well-deserved win.
